About Steve Radcliffe

Originally from Wigan, in Northern England, I studied at Oxford before being drilled in business at Procter and Gamble. Moving to the US, I became CEO of a division of a multi-national company, before returning to help reorganise the business across Europe.

I then aged 38 packed it all in because I was lucky - I had found what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. And that is a great partner, guide, coach, challenger, insight-bringer to leaders who are up to something.

The journey has been brilliant. I have met some truly inspiring people - some in board rooms, some in Whitehall and Downing Street, some in charities and schools.

At home in Hampshire, my leadership challenge alongside Sharron is learning to be a great parent to 3 lively teenagers! Tennis, supporting Wigan Athletic and my landscape photography help keep me fit and sane.

I had an idea on the train the other day. We’re really chuffed with the consistently great feedback on FED and that the book, Leadership Plain and Simple, is still the number one leadership book on Amazon UK of the 164,882 currently offered! However, there has never been any media coverage of the book so [...]

What I’ve been learning!

18 October 2010

Last week Sharron and I had a great break in Jordan. While I was there, I texted our son, Alex, and later said to Sharron that I hadn’t heard back. She said ‘did you ask a question? Because if you didn’t he won’t reply. He’ll just think you’re sending information.’ It’s the same for us [...]

Whatever you do, avoid these regrets when your sun sets!

23 August 2010

Alex Batchelor, Chairman of The Marketing Society, has rumbled me! As part of adding the 25th five star review of the book on Amazon – please add your review; you don’t need to buy a book to add a review, you just need an Amazon account – he writes that “FED (Future Engage Deliver) is [...]

Look at yourself from a different angle

16 August 2010

We can spend a lot of time thinking about ourselves and how we are doing as a leader. But here’s another place to look. Ultimately, your leadership shows up in your impact on others. So why not have a good look there? One of my favourite writers, Larry Bossidy, guides you nicely: “How am I [...]

Hi, it’s a different sort of article this week. I just wanted you to know how well FED is doing and to thank you for your support. A marker of how far FED is spreading is that last week Leadership Plain and Simple became Amazon UK’s number one book on leadership. If you’ve not looked [...]

What do you do when it doesn’t go according to plan?

Thumbnail image for What do you do when it doesn’t go according to plan?

Our friend and colleague who’s done an excellent job creating the website is going through a tough time right now and this resulted in a note that went out yesterday to some subscribers. So apologies if it came out of the blue. The note came as a surprise to me but was also timely in [...]

This week I want to encourage you to make sure you’re connected with your Spirit Energy – that is the energy that’s all to do with your future, your sense of purpose and what uplifts you! I’ve just had a great week in this regard. It started with me nipping out to take this photo [...]

How to be at your best, more of the time

8 February 2010

The other day, I bumped into the HR director at a client and she said ‘I don’t know what you’ve done to Charlie but thank you. He’s transformed. There’s a real glow to him.’ Charlie’s in a team I’m working with and, when I first met him, he looked flat, drained and grey. I chatted [...]
